I've never used a primer before but it really makes a difference to your final look and helps keep your make up in place all day. Try Sephora's Silicone Free Foundation Primer, which is free of parabens and synthetic fragrances. It's particularly great for oily, sensitive or acne-prone skin.

For a high end concealer try Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage - £26 in House of Fraser. This conceals any discolorations of the skin, as well as imperfections and redness. It's oil free and the two-tone colours allow you to customise to your needs. It's suitable for all skin types - you're supposed to apply after foundation.

Desperate to banish bags and those under-eye wrinkles? Try Origins Plantscription anti-ageing eye treatment. It's a bit of a splurge at £36 but the little pot goes a long way and my eyes are looking better already. It contains Anogeissus which helps minimise crow's feet, crepey lids and sagginess around the eye area. Best of all, like all of the Origins range, its paraben free.

Mac's Pro Longwear Lipcreme is a longwear lipstick with a creamy finish. It doesn't need a top coat and still lasts up to 12 hours. It helps lips stay soft and hydrated and it's one of the Mac products that are actually free of parabens.

A great way to freshen up - Dr Organic's Dead Sea Mineral Body Wash. It contains Dead Sea Mineral Salt,  aloe vera, thyme flower and wild mint oils to nourish the skin. Paraben and SLS free. Available at Holland and Barrett.

Soothe, soften and condition skin with Trilogy's Everything Balm. It's suitable for face and body and combines pure plant ingredients for all skin types. It's the ultimate multi purpose cream and of course, paraben free. Dannii Minogue used it on her baby bump! Available at stockists across the UK - visit triologyproducts.com for details.

To finish your make up, try Laura Mercier's Secret Finish. It's a lightweight gel to put over your foundation - ideal for oily skin. It absorbs excess oil and gives you a nice matte finish. It's translucent, paraben-free, fragrance free and oil-free, so a brilliant choice for break-out prone skin. I'm going to be adding it to my make-up routine!

Most  acne products are really hard on the skin but Oxy's Seaweed  Power Fresh Skinwash is suitable for more sensitive skin types. It's paraben, alcohol and SLS free - and even more important, it really works. I'm very prone to break outs but this has really helped to reduce spots. My skin looks clear and even and when I did have a spot, I used the emergency spot treatment gel from the same range, which worked to reduce redness in a matter of hours. It's now a must-have for me.

Today I'd like to recommend the Clinique Exfoliating Facial Scrub. It's extremely concentrated and paste-like, not like other scrubs that mainly consist of liquid and a few scrub beads. Makes skin feel extremely fresh, clean and free of all dirt and blackheads. Best of all it's paraben free!

Eyes are sensitive, so it's great to choose a paraben free and hypoallergenic eye liner.  Try the Autograph Soft Kohl eyeliner at M&S. It's only £6 and comes in four colours, black, brown, charcoal and dark blue. Lots of pencils I've used tend to smudge and disappear - even from top end brands, but this is the best. I use an eye primer and it stays in place all day.

 

 

If you're looking for a paraben free hair range you can find in a supermarket then look no further than the Sainsbury's Happy Hair Days range. The intensive mask is currently on offer for only £3.32. The normal retail price is £4.99. It's a gentle, intensive conditioning mask without parabens. Coconut oil, pear extract and a proven vegetable protein nourish and soften hair from roots to ends without weighing it down, whilst the coconut and marshmallow aroma smells devine.

Many deodorants contain paraben preservatives which have been linked to breast cancer. Organic deodorants don't contain parabens. Try Green People Aloe Vera Organic Deodorant. It's £7.95 but as well as being chemical free, it is also fragranced using essential oils which can benefit the skin rather than synthetic ingredients which can irritate. Modern antiperspirants suppress the body’s vital function of perspiration, by blocking pores with aluminium salts such as aluminium chlorohydrate. This one does not.

Here's one for the mums to be amongst you. Katharine Botanicals Stretch Mark cream is hypo-allergenic and helps your skin retain moisture during pregnancy. It provides seaweed collagen and helps to alleviate any tissue damage or scarring. It also contains Calendula, an antioxidant and antiflammatory so it will help detoxify your body and smooth any irritated skin. They also do a nipple cream which can help with cracking.

For a bargain, try Marks and Spencer's Limited Collection Lipstick. It's only £5 and comes in 22 different shades. It's hypoallergenic, paraben free and contains Vitamin E to keep the  lips soft and moisturised.

 

 

 

 

If you're looking for a good product to help fight the signs of ageing that isn't filled with chemicals, try REN's new Bio Retinoid Anti-Ageing Concentrate. If you're looking for a good paraben free foundation, then try Mac's Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. It's an all in one that gives good coverage. It contains silica to absorb excess oil on the skin and gives a nice matt finish. The talc has been milled to a microscopic size to provide a beautiful texture while allowing the skin to breathe. Today I'd like to recommend Bobbi Brown's hydrating rich cream cleanser which gets rid of all traces of make up and dirt without stripping moisture from the skin. It smells of the lovely avocado butter and leaves skin feeling soft, smooth and supple. It's good for all skin types and paraben free!

Nspa is a value for money, paraben-free range created by experts at Nirvana Spa and on sale at Asda. I like the 5 minute magic mask with ginseng and Vitamin E to improve the texture of the skin. You put it on and then relax for five minutes while it works its magic - the perfect product for busy people who need quick results.

It's no secret that I'm a fan of Neal's Yard Remedies - but I'd definitely recommend the new beauty sleep concentrate. This lovely product is proof that it's not only a good night's sleep and lots of water that can improve your skin. A blend of sage, cypress, orange oil, patchouli, ylang ylang, grapeseed oil and cocoa seed butter help to aid cell restoration and the lovely smell might help just help to soothe you off to sleep! Apply just before you go to bed and it can help boost the skin's moisture levels by 98 per cent.

Most of the shampoos I've tried without chemicals are either expensive or ineffective. Try REN's Oat and Bay conditioning shampoo. This has bay oil to stimulate new growth and lemon oil to cleanse the hair. It's free from all harsh sulfate detergents and synthetic colours. Burt's Bees Anti-Blemish Targeted Spot Treatment is a great way to zap those zits - and it's only £9.99. It works brilliantly on inflamed spots and irritations but because of its natural ingredients, it doesn't irritate the skin. It contains Tea Tree, Calendula, Yarrow and Parsley extracts to help troubled skin and to reduce redness and it smells fantastic. Currently one of my favourite products.

Today I'd like to recommend Jane Iredale's Just Kissed Lip Plumper - £18.35 at jimakeup.co.uk. This can apparently stimulate collagen and make your lips look fuller without causing any pain. It also contains oils of lemon and tangerine to exfoliate dead skin cells leaving your lips soft and kissable.

Aveda's Ancient Attar Pure-fume Spirit Aroma Spray is a great choice for anyone looking for a natural perfume. It's aroma and formula are 100 per cent naturally derived and it gives you what I think is a lovely soft, feminine aroma. It contains certified organic rose oil, sandalwood oil, certified organic rose geranium oil and certified organic neroli oil. You can apply to pulse points or anywhere on the body and the scent lasted for several hours before needing a top up. There's a similar version for men too.

Fancy a splurge for Easter? Dr Andew Weil has produced a Mega-Bright Skin tone correcting serum for Origins. It is expensive - £46 for a 30 ml bottle - but you only need a tiny amount. I think it's worth every penny.

Today I'd like to recommend Clinique's Chubby Stick Moisturising Colour Lip Balm- basically a lipstick and lip balm all in one. I love that they're paraben free and because they're unscented, they don't contain nasty phthalates either. And while Clinique lipsticks do contain some petrochemicals, such as silicones, they are also loaded with vitamins and even acai berry which helps to keep the lips moisturised.

When it comes to eyeliner, for the most part I believe you get what you pay for. Cheap eyeliners tend to smudge but MAC's Technakohl liner won't disappoint. This one has good staying power. I'm on my third and have no doubt I'll buy another. This one is paraben free, though beware that the same can't be said for all of MAC's products.

Organic Surge Eye Gel is a little gem I picked up in Waitrose. It feels really soothing on the skin and instantly reduced puffiness. It has green tea to rejuvenate the skin around the ideas and of course, it's paraben free. No sodium lauryl or laureth sulphate either - and it's only £7.99. Organic Surge do a full range of cleansers, moisturisers, shower gels, hand creams - men's stuff too. Enjoy!

Afterglow is an organic and paraben-free make up range that has been really highly-rated in safety tests. The company's aim is to bridge the gap between natural and high-fashion cosmetics so you get something that gives good results, but it's eco-friendly too.

If you are anti-chemicals you will love REN's Citrus hand cream. It is paraben, fragrance, silicon and sulphate free, but does contain prebiotics to protect and stimulate the skin against bacteria. So as well as keeping your hands hydrated during the winter months, the lovely Sicilian lemon oil makes them smell lovely too.

Buying safe, paraben-free skincare and cosmetics doesn't have to be expensive. Nspa Beauty Rituals is a brand new range of Spa-inspired skincare products, exclusively available at Asda. It was created by experts at Nirvana Spa but the prices are really affordable. It's like having a facial at home! The entire collection is Dermatologically approved, Paraben free, and suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin

I like the Hot Cloth Polish - just £5 for 100ml - that is specially formulated to cleanse and exfoliate skin. This is a more affordable version of the famous and award-winning Liz Earle product. Enjoy!

If your skin has had a bit too much sun for this time of year, try Decleor's High Repair After Sun balm for the face. This lovely product is 100% natural and preservative free. It soothes any burning sensations caused by the sun, nourishes the skin and prevents early peeling. Enjoy!

Clinique Moisture Surge is £30 but I think it's worth every penny. It's a light cream/gel that hydrates your skin for a full 24 hours. It helps get rid of fine lines and made my skin feel vibrant. It's paraben free - not all of Clinique's products are - and it's especially great for problem skin. Take a look at some of the reviews on the Clinique website to see how much people love this product.

Today I'd like to recommend Burt's Bees Beeswax and Banana hand cream. It's all natural and contains aloe vera and Vitamin E to moisturise dry skin - and beeswax to help shield your hands from the elements. The smell of banana is delicious! It's £9.99 at burtsbees.co.uk.

Not all of Mac's make-up is paraben free, but I like the Mineralize Skinfinish face powder. It's lightweight, gives you a natural look and can be used as a touch up on its own or to finish a foundation. It gives a nice matt finish too if you suffer from oily skin.

My skin tends to be quite oily - but if you're looking for a moisturister for dry skin then try Dr Organic's Manuka Honey Rescue Cream.

This one has one a natural beauty award. If you like it, there's also a lip balm, hand and nail and foot cream in the same brand. Paraben free of course.

Aveda do a great compact foundation called Inner Light Dual Foundation. It evens out skintone and makes your skin glow. It's talc and paraben-free and is packaged in recycled clamshell and paper sleeve! It's £21.50 at aveda.co.uk.

A lot of my friends and followers have asked about Clarins - it's obvious that we like their products but we're not sure about their safety. I've had a good look into this and found that while some of their products are paraben-free, others are not. One of their best-sellers, the gentle day cream contains methylparaben. But if you want to try a paraben-free moisturiser you could try Clarins HydraQuench.

However, I would not want to advertise any of Clarins' products as 'natural'. Whilst around 90 per cent of their ingredients are derived from plants they do use some chemicals in their products. All of these chemicals have been certified as safe but if you want a totally natural product then I would shop around and try another brand. The HydraQuench for example contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Some experts believe this is just as risky as parabens. Tests in America found it easily penetrates the skin and remains in the body for some time and in the cleaning industry it's also used in floor cleaners and car wash soaps, so personally, I wouldn't want to use it on my skin. If you are unsure about an ingredient listed on a product, you can always run it through the American Cosmetic Safety Database - http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ - this should help you gather more information.

Introducing The Body Shop's Rainforest Shampoo. This is specially developed for fine hair and promises to help boost volume without weighing  hair down. No silicones, no sulphates, no parabens and no colourants. It also boasts an 'eco-conscious formula' which means it meets the companies green standards. Love it!

The sun is out today so it's time to think about protecting your skin. Introducing Bare Minerals SPF 30 natural sunscreen. This is light and it doubles as a face powder. It gives you a lovely matt look without a trace of cakeyness. It can be used over or under make up, contains Vitamin A, C and E to care for your skin and it has it's own built in brush. No wonder it's won an award. Love it!

Not everyone likes the distinctive smell of Lush products, but I love their Honey I Washed The Kids. It's a soap come shower gel and feels just like jelly! It smells delicious, of honey and toffee. You can use it on your kids but make sure you get your share. It's one of their best-selling products and entirely paraben free.

Origins do a lovely paraben-free eyeshadow. It's great for all skin types and there are both and pearlised colours. £13 at origins.co.uk. It's made from 100 per cent natural essential oils. No parabens, phthalates propylene glycol, mineral oil, parraffin, DEA or animal ingredients.

Nivea have a great Pure & Natural skincare range  - it has no parabens, silicones, colourants and no mineral oils. All these things can irritate the skin. Try the hand cream - it contains Argan Oil, a source of Vitamin E and smells lovely. Currently only £1.27 at ocado.com.

Tesco's Vitamin E facial range is paraben and SLS free - and it's a bargain too. Try the Cleanser and Eye Make Up Remover £1.99 or the Vitamin E Night Cream currently on offer at £6.23. Every little helps!

To keep your skin moisturised try Skinfood Light Moisturiser. This contains coconut palm, and vitamins E and A to help soothe skin. Essential Orange, another key ingredient, also revitalises tired and dull skin. It's a good one for men and women as it's only very lightly scented. Try the Fix It Fast natural hold hairspray - only £1.99 at the mo. Using this natural spray will stop synthetics building up in your hair and will allow for better growth. Your hair will be both stronger and shinier. There are loads of other products too including make up remover, eye gels, bath and shower gels, moisturisers, even stuff for kids. Needless to say I'll be plugging their great products again soon.
